Parental Controls

The use of Parental Control Services on the Linksys access point does require and additional subscription fee of $39.95 per year.  The importance of limiting or restricting internet usage to protect children has become more apparent recently, and this is a decision that every family must make on their own.  Personally, I have not taken advantage of this feature, preferring to use educational methods to instruct my son how to be a safe Internet user.  Would it have been available to me when he was younger, I would have used the Time of Day Restriction feature, since my son was prone to staying up until the wee hours instant messaging his buddies.

The Linksys Parental Control solution is the ideal home networking service delivering protection and peace of mind to broadband networked households. Advanced features include:

• $59.95 for 2 years

For less than 10 cents a day, the Linksys Parental Control Service makes it easy for users to try to keep their families safe on the Internet, by monitoring web browsing, email and instant messaging, enforcing time-of-day restrictions, and providing complete activity reports by family member.
